I am an associate professor at Ankara Yildirim Beyazit University, Turkey. I also currently serve as a member of the Study Group on Science and Education Policy, established by the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA). Previously, I was a member of the Executive Board of Turkish Fulbright Commission; a visiting scholar at the Center for Studies in Higher Education at the University of California, Berkeley; an adviser to the Minister of National Education of Turkey as well as to the President of the Board of Higher Education (YÖK); a columnist for the Star daily, a high-circulation Turkish newspaper; and directed educational policy research at SETA Foundation, an Ankara based think-tank.
I am often invited to offer expert opinion by the national and international media about various issues related to education. You can find some recent media coverage that includes my opinions or cites my works on this website.
